Are you getting ready for summer? As spring draws to a close, many choose this time of year to start focusing on getting fit and trim for the summer. Could your spending habits benefit from a diet, too? This is a great time to think about tightening the proverbial belt when it comes to shopping. Here are some ideas to help you cut back... - Use cash. It's always a little more "real" when you're actually watching the money leave your hands.
- Avoid impulse shopping at the grocery store by making a list in advance and chewing gum while on site.
- Do emails from your favorite stores entice you to shop too often? Hit "unsubscribe" and remove the constant temptations.
- Before you spend money on a big ticket item, consider how many hours you must work to pay for it.
- Wait at least 24 hours before making non-essential purchases. Does it still make sense a day later?
- Be sure to compare prices before buying. Is there a coupon or lower price if you shop elsewhere?
