Social Security Resources

You may find it convenient to have online access to your social security information.  To  request a benefits statement online, go to the SocialSecurity Administration’s Web site(www.ssa.gov), sign up for a “mySocial Security account” and submit an online request. You should receive a response in the mail in two to four weeks with instructions for setting up your account. Once your online access is created  you can access your information, print your report, and review your contributions and projected benefits anytime.

You must:

• Have a valid email address,
• Have a Social Security number,
• Have a U.S. mailing address, and
• Be at least 18 years of age.

It is helpful to provide your Social Security statement to your financial adviser annually, so that this information is included in your retirement planning.
